Individualised Interventions in Learning: Bridging Advanced Learning Science and 21st Century Technology
The Centre for Brain and Cognitive Development (Birkbeck, University of London) has 5 PhD positions to offer, on particular developmental topics (see below). These are part of a Marie Curie European Industrial Doctorate and will involve colaborations with Procter & Gamble (Germany), Romanian Institute for Science and Technology, Oefenweb (NL), RID & IWAL Instituten Voor Dyslexie (NL). The researcher will spend 50% of their time at CBCD and 50% at one of these partners.
Topics:1. The role of sleep in early cognitive development (CBCD/P&G)2. How touch mediates infant happiness and learning (CBCD/P&G)3. The neural dynamics of motivated learning (RIST/CBCD)4. Tailoring the learning experience to individual students (Oefenweb/CBCD)5. Representational change in intensive language intervention. (RID/IWAL/CBCD).

Eligibility requirements: Applicants can not have lived in Germany for more than 12 months in the last 3 years for Topics 1 and 2, or the UK for more than 12 months in the last 3 years for Topics 3, 4 and 5. Applicants must have less than 4 years research experience and not have completed a PhD.
